A family business

The Khemani family founded Suraj Logistix Pvt. Ltd. in Jamshedpur in 2004. In our third decade, Suraj is a trusted name in plumbing systems across the East and one of India's largest manufacturers of woven polypropylene packaging, still family-run, still based in Steel City.

From one line to a million square feet.
Tuffplast came first
Six units across three states
Suraj began with Tuffplast: uPVC pipes and fittings, out of one extrusion line in Adityapur. The brief was simple: build plumbing that would outlive the homes it went into, and earn every contract one customer call at a time.
The packaging operations followed when we asked a different question: if we know how to extrude and shape polymer this well, why not make the packaging the cement plants and food brands around us depend on? In our third decade, the country's largest cement majors, UltraTech, ACC, Ambuja, Shree, Dalmia, buy bags from Suraj, alongside fertilizer co-ops, food brands and pet-food startups. Tuffplast plumbing now goes into homes, projects and government tenders supplied to Tata, L&T, Shapoorji and the Government of India.
The group runs six manufacturing units across Jharkhand, Telangana and Karnataka, and provides livelihood to more than 3,000 people. The same family that started the business still runs it.
